How to Use Baby Wipes Ten Different Ways

E-mail Print PDF

As Heloise raved about the many uses of nylon net, so I rave about baby wipes. They clean as tough as any of those harsh and smelly cleaning wipes, and yet they're so soft and pleasant to use and cost less than half the price! Read on to find out more.

  1. Step1

    LEATHER
Hope the leather-cleaner folks forgive me, but baby wipes are great for polishing off the dust, oils, and hand prints that take the luster out of leather furniture. Do remember to feed good leather with a bona fide cleaning and conditioning product from time to time, though...even babies need baby lotion!

  2. Step2

    BLINDS
The tough fibers and small size of baby wipes make them perfect for cleaning off every speck of dust from every little corner of every last slat. (Actually, I'm not that thorough, but I could be!) Use a fresh inch or two of wipe for each slat...a few wipes later you've got some darned clean blinds, and no nasty rag flapping around or duster doing next to nothing.

  3. Step3

    SINKS
Scour the sink and faucets with these little dandies. They scrub, scrub, scrub without coming apart and leave the taps and basin sparkling! Also, if you're like me and don't like the idea of sitting down where a disinfectant or chlorine-bleach wipe left its residue, then the thought of putting your bottom on a baby-wipe clean seat should sound just fine.

  4. Step4

    FACES
Tacos, pizza, fried chicken and spaghetti don't stand a chance of staining your loved ones when baby wipes are nearby! Softer on little cheeks and chins than paper towels, tougher than napkins, they clean folks up in a jiffy and don't dry skin out like other pop-up wipes.

  5. Step5

    DUSTING
Commercial break? Take a few of your new best friends on a ride around the living room. Their handy little size and cleaning ability make them a natural for dusting every kind of surface but glass and mirrors (they tend to streak). No chemical odor, no greasy residue...they just dust down nice and sweet. Toss 'em in the trash and you're ready for the show.

  6. Step6

    SNEEZES
So much tougher, softer, and nicer than any kind of facial tissue, baby wipes bring baby-soft comfort to a poor old nose that's out of control. Keep them by your desk or chair when cold season is on. They're soothing on hurt and swollen tissues and leave you nice and clean.

  7. Step7

    FLOORS
Why get out a spray and towels or, even worse, a mop, when you can just pop up one of these little guys and wipe up the crud with ease? It will be tempting to do all your floors with baby wipes--I'm not suggesting that you do, as you'd have to get on your hands and knees. But if you could attach them somehow to your feet...

  8. Step8

    HANDS
Gardening hands, finger paint hands, engine-checking hands--you name it, baby wipes can clean it! They're gentle but tough: tough enough to use with a manicure stick to get your cuticles and fingernails clean, yet gentle enough that your hands still feel supple when you're done with your scrub.

  9. Step9

    SHOES
Poor old dogs all dusty and dry? Guess what'll clean them up in a hurry and leave them smooth to boot: baby wipes, of course! Next best thing when you can't get a shoe shine. Do keep your shoes in top shape with good shoe creams and conditioners, but keep baby wipes handy for those quick touch-ups out the door.

  10. Step10

    CAR
Baby wipes are great for your car's interior, even on upholstery, and have none of that bad odor and slick residue you get with car wipes. I've also used them many a time to remove little gifts the birds leave, and to clean a dusty or dewy rear window. No car should be without a box!
